NASA Gone Wild

Daniel Pipes’ article, On Nasa’s Strange Priorities, which was published in the National Review and also on his own blog, criticizes Obama’s overreaching toward the Muslim world.  Pipes writes:

…we did not know how deeply embedded this impulse has become in U.S. policy until this: “Obama’s new mission for NASA: Reach out to Muslim world.” Byron York of the Washington Examiner uncovered an interview on Al-Jazeera in which the head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Charles F. Bolden, Jr., explained how Obama charged him to pursue three decidedly non-scientific objectives:

One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering.

NASA, he went on, is pursuing “a new beginning of the relationship between the United States and the Muslim world.”

Reaching out, showing respect, these are great gestures…usually.  At the present time, however, sucking-up to the Muslim world is exactly the opposite position President Obama should take.

Muslims do not think like Americans.  They use bullying tactics in an effort to make political gains.  They should be shown that such tactics are futile with diplomatic maneuvers that communicate, “Uncle Sam don’t play that.”

What does Obama do?  He treats them with favor that is not shown on our closest allies!

When Muslims act with some degree of hostility toward The Great Satan and we make special efforts to appease them, they are emboldened.  They perceive political gain.  They become more confident in their ultimate success.  The result is an escalation in hostilities toward the US.

From what I’ve observed, as long as Obama is president, the appeasement response will be repeated.  Clearly, this is a fast track to dimmitude.
